Mikhail Blekher (piano, harpsichord)

St-Petersburg, Russia

Born in Berdjansk, Ukraine (1965). Graduated from St.Petersburg Conservatory under Prof. T.Zagorovskaja and Prof.N.Nouridzhanyan (1992). While in the conservatory, he started to study harpsichord, being attracted with the historical principles of the Baroque music interpretation. Since 1991, he is the harpsichord player at "Novaya Gollandija" Early Music Ensemble. As a pianist actively collaborates with the well-known musicians from St.Peterburg, Europe and America. He co-operated with Robert Hill (harpsichord, Germany), Lars Forslund (lute, Sweden), Raissa Martin (soprano, Sweden), etc. In 1995 he created DUO with well-known violinist Alexandra Andreeva. Since then, the Duo has presented to audience more than 15 different programmes, which cover music from Baroque till XXI century.
In 2005 emerges a new Duo with countertenor Alexander Gorbatenko-possessor of unique voice, widely well-known in Europe (esp. in Germany) and in Russia.
M.Blekher is one of organizers of "Remolino-quintet ", which performs music by A.Piazzolla (mostly) and modern composers. Famous orchestras and chamber ensembles of St-Petersburg invite M.Blekher constantly for co-operation.
Mr.Blekher is a constant participant of numerous early- and modern music festivals both in Russia and abroad. Among them are annual internationals festivals Baroque music (St-Petersburg), festivals in Russia, Estonia, Finland, Sweden, Ukraine. For five last years he participated annual St-Petersburg festivals: "St-Petersburg Musical Spring", "Easter Festival", "Lent Concert Season".
